The investment in the Kent power plant amounts to DKK 1.5bn. The plant has a capacity of 27 MW, corresponding to the power consumption of 50,000 households, and is mainly using locally sourced wood. The plant was constructed by BWSC and commenced operations in September 2018.
BWSC has provided the Danish biomass energy technology to the Kent facility and will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plant under an O&M contract for up to 20 years. Heat and some of the power are delivered to Discovery Park, a major business park located in Kent. The plant delivers annual CO2 savings of approximately 100,000 tonnes.
