PensionDanmark has just been named "Best European Pension Fund" at the IPE European Pension Funds Awards ceremony, which took place in Copenhagen Thursday evening. PensionDanmark received the award on account of its new investment strategy with strong focus on alternative investments such as wind turbines, bank loans and export credits. Earlier the same evening, PensionDanmark had been named "Pension Fund of the Year" in Denmark and "Best Industry-wide Pension Fund".
"Naturally we are very proud to receive these coveted awards. This is an acknowledgement of our investment teams' ability to find new ways to ensure sound, stable returns at a time when the market is challenged by low interest rates and considerable financial turmoil," says CEO Torben Möger Pedersen, PensionDanmark.
The IPE European Pension Funds Awards are the largest awards of their kind in Eu-rope, with several hundred pension funds from a wide range of countries participating. This year, awards were presented in 40 categories. The awards, which have been presented since 2001, are given to "exemplary" pension funds.
