PensionDanmark has just received international recognition for its investments in real estate and infrastructure at a ceremony held Thursday evening in Munich, winning the IP Real Estate Global Awards for "Best Infrastructure Strategy" and "Best Sustainability Strategy".
PensionDanmark aims to invest 20% of its funds in real estate and infrastructure, such as wind farms and property with high standards for environmental sustainability.
"These awards are a tribute to our investment teams, who have demonstrated that they can adapt our investment portfolio very quickly, providing our members with a high rate of return at a time of record low interest rates. A return of 7% for real estate and 9% for wind turbines in 2013 means investments that really deliver the goods," says CEO Torben Möger Pedersen, PensionDanmark.
Investments in infrastructure in recent years have been expanded with new investments in an offshore grid connection in Germany, in British wind farms, a biofuel power station in the UK and gas infrastructure in Holland. We also added investments on real estate such as UN City Copenhagen, head office buildings for MT Højgaard, NCC, Alfa Laval and Semco Maritime, plus housing in Aarhus, Vejle and Copenhagen.
